Happy Easter

Abbey and Elizabeth celebrated their first Easter today. They got all dressed up in new dresses and shoes for church and a family lunch at Great Grandmother Smith's house. They had fun playing with plastic easter eggs, and showing off their newest skills -- waving and clapping. They had many admirers and were all smiles when the cameras started flashing. We ended the day back at home with two very tired babies. Abbey is cutting her third tooth and had some trouble with the teething this afternoon. We're all hoping to go back to work and school tomorrow without any drama (Last week brought us a false case of pink eye and an infected insect bite). It's amazing that mommy ever makes it to work!

Having children gives you a new perspective on many things. Today, while singing "Because He Lives," a hymn I've sung in church many times before, this verse had special meaning:

"How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living, Just because He lives!"

Happy Easter
